Lamas, Heated Handlebars and The Survival of The Fittest

July 12, 2014

Wednesday night saw the Royals crew – together with friends of the family, a bunch agency types and the odd groupie - turn out on mass to hear our very own Nick Cummins give a keynote at The Local Taphouse for the MADC.

For those of you who don’t know him, Cummo’s survived and thrived in our industry for over 20-years, has ridden motorcycles through some of Melbourne’s best known agency doors and stacked shelves with awards trophies along the way. He’s also one of the best storytellers in the business so it’s always fun to hear him on the soapbox. About things like his disdain for ‘matching luggage’ or the phone-call he once got from Google after hacking their newly created “Virtual Globe” (Google Earth). About how his mate’s five year-old managed to order a $30,000 lama on eBay, the need to always be hustling (in a friendly,Sth Gippsland sort of way) and an unyielding passion for ingenuity that keeps him interested - and interesting – after all these years. He even said that suits aren’t the enemy, which previously he’d only ever admitted in private.

We love you, Cummo. And the people there last Wednesday understand why.
